"Per la Gloria di Dio" – this title stands for the unique musical culture, represented by composers like Antonio Vivaldi, Baldassare Galuppi, Johann Adolf Hasse, that helped Venice orphanages, called Ospedali, to attain fame. These facilities, in which were trained exclusively girls and women, contributed in no small part to the glorification of Venice. Goethe, who witnessed the performance of an oratorio in the Ospedale della Pietà, reported in his diary of the wonderful cast, the "girls of the sweet song"
